Welcome 2013!

This is going to be an amazing year!  It’s such a fun thought to know that there are bunches of us who want to know God better and are waking up and beginning everyday meeting with Him.  It makes those blurry-eyed mornings a little more “doable” when you know you’re not the only one in the world who is going for it!

The Daily Reading section is going to be used for notes about the daily readings. The purpose is to simply highlight the fact that God wants to speak to us every day.  He isn’t silent!  Sometimes we just need a little extra perspective to see the things He may want us to see.  Our hope is that these daily comments would provide encouragement, open your heart in a new way or simply just “add to” your own personal time with Him. Wewill have new entries each day that correspond with the daily reading schedule – so keep checking in!

God bless,

Phil Joel

March 27th deliberatePeople. post by Phil and Heather Joel + today's dP reading schedule:

Deuteronomy 7:1-8:20 / Luke 7:36-8:3 / Psalm 69:1-18 / Proverbs 12:1

Standout verse:

Luke 7:36-50 = The story of the sinful woman who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and anointed His head with costly oil.

Jesus uses this woman as an example to His followers of TRUE REPENTANCE.  We know this woman had walked in a lifestyle of sin.  She came to Jesus, fell at His feet, washed them with her tears and then anointed His head with costly oil. Note: she did all this before He had forgiven her.  She had nothing left to lose; she was stripped of her pride and desire for self-gratification – she was desperate for Him.  Jesus could see the evidence of her brokenness - He lovingly forgave her and commended the purity of her heart and her motives.

Repentance isn’t jut being “sorry” for what we’ve done or “sorry” we were caught.  TRUE REPENTANCE is humbly acknowledging our sin, confessing it to our Heavenly Father (and those we’ve wronged), asking to be washed clean and TURNING from our sin toward the LIFE that God calls us to passionately and obediently.

A broken and a contrite heart- these O God, You will not despise.  -  Psalm 51:17

"Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." Luke 7:47
